We’re looking for a full-stack engineer who thrives in ambiguity, can wear multiple hats, and enjoys the challenge of turning complex systems into simple, elegant tools for our customers.
Your Role at ProTag
As our Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll own the end-to-end development of ProTag’s digital platform, shaping how farmers interact with their data and make decisions.
This means:
App Development
- Build and enhance a mobile-first platform that presents real-time data, farm maps, and behavioural insights in an intuitive and actionable way.
- Enable users to monitor individual animals and herds, manage grazing, and receive alerts for key events like health issues or grazing anomalies.
Backend Development
- Design and implement scalable backend systems to process data from wearable devices and deliver insights to the app.
- Work with our current stack (Node.js & Go) while influencing the future architecture to support growth and evolving business needs.
Customer-Centric Problem Solving
- Engage with farmers and pilot users to understand their needs, refine the app’s functionality, and solve real-world challenges.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with our CTO, other team members, and external stakeholders to ensure the app and backend align with ProTag’s vision.
- Contribute to broader company goals, sharing your expertise and perspective to drive innovation across the business.
What We’re Looking For
We don’t expect you to check every box, but the ideal candidate will bring:
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in full-stack development, including mobile app frameworks (e.g., React Native) and backend systems.
- Familiarity with AWS, serverless approaches, and containerised architectures is a plus, but adaptability is key - we value your ability to evaluate and implement the best solutions for the job.
- A strong foundation in mobile app and web development practices, particularly with real-time data visualisation and geospatial tools (e.g. maps, graphs).
Problem Solving and Adaptability
- Comfort navigating uncertainty and creating solutions that balance speed and effectiveness.
- A mindset focused on solving customer problems, not just building features.
Interpersonal Skills
- A self starter with high emotional intelligence and a talent for working collaboratively in small teams and directly with end-users.
- Strong communication skills to share ideas, advocate for best practices, and engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with IoT, hardware/software integration, or embedded systems.
- An understanding of machine learning pipelines or working with sensor-generated data.
